“A PERFUME CARESS YOU CANNOT FORGET”

Is there a particular story behind this project? What kind of emotional response do you hope to evoke?
The story of 2 New Yorkers meeting at times in an überscented basement, at time in an überdecorated penthouse, at times in an überanimalic lama refuge farm in the woods of upstate New York. So many “übers”, that naked is the answer.
Do you consider this perfume a purely olfactory experience, or is there a visual or narrative element you intended ?
Indeed very well said for that particular fine and bold scent: a purely olfactory experience. It is not about being caught on specific elements, ingredients or other senses. I do expect everyone to recreate in their mind some special places or special event or special encounter or special losing-oneself-secretly-and-we-won’t tell-anyone.
What is the most satisfying aspect of this perfume creation for you ?
That it has become so or-ga-nic, full of raw nature, and yet, so gutsy, full of deep down New York at the same time.
How would you describe your personal style as a perfumer?
As a tiger and a chameleon. I adapt to each project, I melt into each patron’s feelings but my perfumes and I don’t lose our personalities in them.
What inspires you to continue creating new fragrances?
It remains a mystery to this day as to where my flame is coming from.
Even my Kung Fu Master is surprised of my energy as to how I just don’t stop exploring, producing, trying, creating, practicing, fantasizing.
What role do emotions play in your fragrance creation process?
Any artistic work of mind is the result of a fine dosage between emotions, “letting-go”, and the limitations that materials and techniques impose on you the artist composer. You can let your emotions burst or express the sky… in the limit of your know how. The condemnation of the artist. As master perfumers, we keep on pushing and pushing and pushing and every new creations is an exploration into a territory where we have never been before. We like to feel uncomfortable as artists to make people feel gorgeous. I can never settle. Naked Forest is another work where I have never been before. Emotionly and fragrance-ingrediently!
